Mike Radford was a father, a friend, a brother, a husband and a son. He was family. His reputation was built on generosity, loyalty and kindness and we loved him… but we lost him.

He was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumor in 2013. He remained positive and he fought hard but sadly he lost his life on March 13th 2014.

As friends gathered to offer each other condolences and support it became tragically clear how many of us could share stories about the impact cancer had made on our lives. Many of us had lost family members and friends or had experienced cancer directly. We acknowledged our gratitude for the doctors, the nurses, the carers and volunteers who have worked so hard and who continue to give their time and expertise to the care of cancer patients. We decided that we wanted to give something back, so RADFEST was born.

RADFEST is a music festival created to raise money for cancer charities. It is a positive event; a celebration in Mike’s memory and a tribute to all the lives we have lost to cancer. The original RADFEST took place on 31st May 2014 and it was a resounding success. We sold all of our tickets and we raised over £7,000 for Pilgrim’s Hospice. Our plan now is to make it a regular event to which you are all invited. We have made an ongoing commitment to keep you entertained in the hope that you will dig deep and give generously.

RADFEST II will take place on 16th July 2016 at the Oval Tavern in Croydon. There will be music across two stages, good food, good beer and plenty of big prizes on offer. This year we are raising money for MacMillan Cancer Support.
